Meet Our Council
The role of the Council at First Moncton is to provide support and guidance for the Senior Pastor and staff in shaping strategic planning and long-term direction for the church, evaluating Church doctrine, protecting church unity and overseeing administrative, policy, and overall ministry functioning of the church.
Cody has been attending First Baptist Church since September 2013. He grew up in Nash Creek, NB, but now lives in Moncton with his wife, Kathy, who he met while attending Crandall University in 2011. They have been happily married since May 2016 and serve together as youth leaders at the church, helping with youth group and co-leading the youth Bible study on Sunday mornings. Cody also co-leads the young adult Bible study with Andy Scott. He works as a full-time missionary with the campus ministry Ratio Christi as an apologist and Chapter Director, overseeing the RC Chapter at Crandall University and spearheading a Canadian presence for the ministry. He also does research and writing in the areas of science, apologetics, and theology.
Lynn Ritchie, BN, UNB, is married to Dale Ritchie and, with their three children Rob (m.Amy & Lucy, Andrew) NYC, Greg and Jill (of Montreal), have been members of several Maritime Baptist Churches over the years. Lynn taught Sunday School, served as a member on Mission, Decorating, Hospitality, WMS and Fundraising Committees as well as, served on CE, Trustee and Deacon Boards in respective churches. Lynn worked with her husband for 20 years ithe Rocklyn Group berfore returning to Nursing in ‘03 at the Moncton Hospital in the Maternal Child Health areas. Currently serving on FBM Council.
Paul and his family have been with First Baptist since 2010 after attending an Easter Cantata service and after considering other churches, felt First was the place for them. He and his wife Janice reside in Dieppe with their two children, Brendan and Julia who have both become members since attending First. Both children are currently continuing their studies at university.
Paul has been involved with the Fed 4 Life and Greeter programs as well as serving on the former Board of Education and Welcome Committees and is currently the church and Council's Secretary.
He has been employed with the provincial Air Ambulance service for the past 22 years and operates a small contract management business.
Lee has attended First Baptist Moncton since 2015. He and his wife Brenda joined the church in April 2016. They have three adult children, all of whom live in the Moncton area. Lee and Brenda are members of the senior choir and assist with Wednesday suppers in the Gym. Lee is presently acting as the Deacon representative on Council.
