Grounded in the Faith | Is Your God Big Enough?

What if God is doing something extraordinary in your life, even when you cannot see it?

We often want answers. We want to understand why certain things happen, why prayers seem unanswered, or why life takes unexpected turns. But what if our greatest challenge isn't understanding God's plan, but trusting the greatness of the One who holds it?

This Sunday at First Baptist Moncton, Rev. Gary Barr shared a powerful message titled "Is Your God Big Enough?", inviting us to reflect on the infinite wisdom, grace, and greatness of God through Romans 11:33–36.

A God Too Great to Fit in a Box

Sometimes, without realizing it, we try to make God fit within the boundaries of our own understanding.

We want Him to act according to our expectations, answer our questions in our timing, and make His plans clear to us.

But God is so much greater than the limits we place on Him.

In Romans 11, the Apostle Paul marvels at the depth of God's wisdom and knowledge. His ways are beyond our ability to fully understand, and His judgments are beyond our ability to trace.

Rev. Gary challenged us to consider whether we have reduced our understanding of God to something small, predictable, and neatly packaged.

When we allow God to be greater than our expectations, our faith becomes an invitation to wonder, trust, and worship.

God's Grace Is Already Ahead of You

One of the most comforting reminders from Sunday's message was that God's grace goes before us.

Before we encounter tomorrow's challenges, God is already there. Before we face the unexpected, His wisdom and grace are not caught by surprise.

We may not know what lies ahead, but we can trust the One who does.

This doesn't mean life will always be easy or that every difficulty will disappear. It means that even in uncertainty, we are never beyond God's presence and care.

Our future may be unknown to us, but it is never unknown to God.

God Is Painting a Masterpiece in Your Life

Perhaps the most beautiful image from Rev. Gary's message was the reminder that God is painting a masterpiece in each of our lives.

Like an artist working with many colours, God can use every season of our journey—the bright moments of joy, the darker seasons of sorrow, the unexpected changes, and the experiences we struggle to understand.

Sometimes we see only one small part of the canvas. We question the colours, the brushstrokes, or the direction the painting seems to be taking.

But the Master Artist sees the whole picture.

And while we may never fully understand the finished work during our time on earth, we can trust that one day, in heaven, we will see with greater clarity what we could not understand before.

God is not finished with your story. Trust the Artist, even when you cannot see the masterpiece.

A Reflection for the Week

As you begin a new week, consider these questions:

  • Have I been trying to fit God into my own limited understanding?

  • Can I trust that His grace is already at work in the challenges I have yet to face?

  • Am I willing to praise Him even when I cannot see the bigger picture?

Remember: God is bigger than your questions, wiser than your plans, and present in every chapter of your story.
