Imagine receiving a beautifully wrapped gift, custom-made just for you. It's exactly what you need, something that could transform not only your life but the lives of those around you. But instead of opening it, you place it on a shelf and forget about it.
How often do we do the same with the gifts God has given us?
In this Sunday's message, Wendy Jones, Director of Executive Ministries, explored Romans 12:3–8, reminding us that God's grace is not simply something we receive. It's something we are called to share.
Grace Is a Gift Meant to Be Shared
The Greek word charis means grace: God's undeserved favour, freely given through Jesus Christ. From this comes charisma, referring to the spiritual gifts God gives His people.
These gifts aren't rewards for being especially talented or faithful. They are expressions of God's grace, entrusted to us for the benefit of others.
Whether our gift is teaching, serving, encouraging, giving, leading, or showing mercy, each one has a purpose in the body of Christ.
Every Gift Matters. Every Person Belongs.
Paul reminds us that the Church is one body with many members, each with a unique and necessary role.
Our gifts were never intended to be used in isolation or kept to ourselves. They are meant to strengthen our church family, encourage those who are struggling, and reveal God's love through our actions.
As Wendy powerfully reminded us:
"When we don't use our gift, someone else in this body is missing the exact grace God designed them to receive through you."
There is no gift too small, no role unimportant, and no age at which we stop having something valuable to contribute.
It's Time to Open the Gift
God has already provided what His Church needs through the people He has called together. The invitation is to move beyond simply attending church and become an active part of what God is doing.
Wendy left us with a question worth reflecting on:
"Where is the gap in my church family right now that God has uniquely wired me to close?"
Perhaps it's time to unwrap the gift God has placed in your hands.
At First Baptist Moncton, there is a place for you, your gifts, and your willingness to serve.
Let's use what God has given us to make His grace visible to others.
