🕯 A Tradition That Speaks to the Heart
Since 1964, the Candlelight Service at First Baptist Moncton has filled our Sanctuary with glowing candles, powerful music, and the profound hope of Christmas.
This year, the message is simple — and deeply needed:
We Are Never Alone.
In a world that often feels uncertain, heavy, or lonely, Christmas reminds us that Jesus stepped into the messiness of human life — not to judge from a distance, but to be with us. Emmanuel — God with us.
🎶 A Night of Music, Light, and Worship
The Candlelight Service includes:
Sanctuary Choir & Bell Choir performances
Christmas carols and worship songs
Live music prelude at 6:15 PM — the Sanctuary fills quickly, come early!
Candlelit worship across the entire Sanctuary
Contemporary band performance
A message of hope for those who are weary
Newcomers, long-time families, visitors from all over New Brunswick — even people of various backgrounds and beliefs — gather for this remarkable night. Under candlelight, we are reminded that no one walks alone.
✨ When the World Feels Messy… Never Alone
During last year’s Candlelight message, Pastor Richard shared a profound reminder:
“The world is a mess. Our lives can be a mess. But Jesus was born into a messy world — and He still steps into ours today. Don’t try to clean your life before coming to Him. Bring your mess as it is… and watch Him do something beautiful.”
We don’t gather because life is perfect.
We gather because God is present — even in the imperfect.
He is not distant. He is not silent.
He is Emmanuel — God with us.
🕯 Why Candlelight Matters
As every candle is lit in the Sanctuary, the message becomes visible:
Even the smallest light changes the darkness.
In community, in worship, in shared prayer — the light spreads.
And we remember: You are not alone. You are seen. You are loved. You belong.
