Catherine Bartlett

Assistant Pastor to Seniors and Sanctuary Choir Director

A lifelong member of the congregation, Catherine (née Fitch) was baptized at First Baptist at age 11 and grew up surrounded by a strong legacy of faith and service. Her parents’ active involvement in Sunday School, missions, music, and church leadership deeply influenced her own commitment to ministry and worship.

Catherine holds a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education from Mount Allison University, as well as a Master of Music in Voice Performance (Soprano) from the University of British Columbia. Her career includes extensive teaching and leadership experience, having served on staff in churches in Vancouver, Toronto, and St. John’s, Newfoundland, where she was Organist and Choir Director. From 1996 to 2008, she taught voice and vocal pedagogy at Memorial University’s School of Music, later serving as a music specialist in the Moncton public school system from 2009 to 2021.

Since 2012, Catherine has provided enthusiastic leadership to the 35–40 voice Sanctuary Choir at First Baptist Moncton—a vibrant ministry she affectionately describes as a “rather large small group.” Under her direction, the choir leads the congregation in worship each Sunday, offering musical excellence and heartfelt praise that enriches the life of the church community.

Beyond her professional roles, Catherine has always been a leader—whether in youth groups, Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship, or the Registered Music Teachers’ Association at both provincial and national levels. She is married to Rev. J. Blake Bartlett, and together they have two university-aged children, Ruth and John. Catherine’s deep faith, musical gifts, and compassionate spirit continue to bless the life and ministry of First Baptist Moncton.
