Missing the Point Title Slide General.jpg

Christmas. Time to shop. Time to navigate the crowds in search of those perfect presents. Time to get all those special treats and meals baked and cooked. Time to attend all those special school Christmas concerts, work parties, family get togethers. Time. More and more of it taken up until the only time you wish for is time to recuperate.

Christmas is a busy time…but…really…why? What’s the point of all this seasonal craziness? Are we more or less missing the point of the whole season? Follower, believer or not, we all get swept up in the season and we can all end up missing the point because of it.

First Moncton provides seasonal opportunities to remind us what, or more specifically “who”, the point of the season is all about. Our special Christmas events and gatherings are not meant to add more busyness to your season, instead, we hope they will help to add more meaning.

Sunday, December 2nd, 6:30pm

The “Hanging of the Greens” marks the beginning of the Season of Advent. The beginning of our journey towards Christmas and our celebration of the birth of Christ.

We start the Christmas Season with this special gathering of music and the Scripture of the Christmas Story, all mixed together while we decorate our church Sanctuary with wreaths, ornaments, poinsettias, and other symbols of the Season.

It all ends with a time of food, conversation, and mingling.

 Sunday, December 9th, 6:30pm

You don’t need to have the voice of an angel. We’re looking for all types of voices and all types of ages to join us as we visit a couple of Senior’s Care Homes in the Greater Moncton area and bring some Christmas caroling along with us. This is a fun and heart-filling night for the whole family to join and it all finishes with some hot chocolate and Christmas snacks.

Sunday, December 16th, 6:30pm

First Moncton’s Candlelight Service is a long-standing Christmas tradition for the whole city! Filled with music from the Sanctuary Choir, Handbell Choir, Worship Team, and others, this very special service adds to the warmth of the season. Candlelight surrounds you as you sit, listen, and experience the Christmas Season in the beautiful surroundings of our decorated Sanctuary. Come early because this special service fills up quickly!

Monday, December 24th, 6:30pm

Yes, Christmas Eve is always a busy time for families. Excited children. Sleep? Last minute preparations for Christmas morning. Time to travel. Time for family. But…if there is one time to get the point of the season, well, this is it! The birth of Christ! The birth of the Savior of the World!

Christmas Eve at First Moncton is simple, family oriented, and meaningful. Don’t miss the point of the season and join us for Christmas Eve worship to celebrate the birth of Christ.

For a child is born to us,
a son is given to us.
The government will rest on his shoulders.
And he will be called:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
