Rev. Andy Scott

Student Life Pastor

Andy joined the ministry team at First Baptist in 2012 and serves as the Student Life Pastor. In this role, Andy has overall responsibility for the older children and youth ministries of First Baptist. Andy provides leadership and support to children, youth and their families to help them with their growth in their relationship with God.

Andy has a passion to see young people come to know the Lord and grow in their relationship with Him. He connects with people easily, especially the younger generations, with whom he as so much in common, including a love for music, video games, playing the guitar, and just getting to know new people! Andy is married to Sandra, and together they have three children, all less than six years old: Savannah, Alexis, and Reuben.

Andy brings more than ten years of experience to First Baptist. In Nova Scotia, Andy served as Youth Pastor at Aylesford Baptist Church and also at Middleton Baptist Church. Prior to that, Andy was the Interim Youth Coordinator at RiverCross Church (formerly Main Street Baptist Church) in Saint John. He has experience working at Christian camps, having served as the Executive Director of the Edith Lank Memorial Christian Camp in Campobello and as the Assistant Director of Camp Piankatank in Hartford, VA. Andy has also served as a Family Resource Counsellor in Saint John, led a Christian Fellowship Group at a high school, served on camp boards and served as the Vice President of the Atlantic Baptist Youth Convention.

With an interest in Biblical Studies, Andy studied at Kingswood University in Sussex and graduated with a Bachelor in Religion in 2006. He continued his studies at Acadia Divinity College and earned his Master of Divinity in 2013, in Pastoral Studies and was ordained at First Baptist Moncton in 2014.

Andy asked Jesus into his life when he was nine years old at Camp Tulakadik, but it was only when he led someone to Jesus at the age of fourteen that he truly understood the power of the Holy Spirit and what it meant to live for Jesus. Andy knew his calling in life to be a youth pastor since he was sixteen years old, and has prepared himself for that role since. One of the most important lessons Andy has learned from Jesus is the power of forgiveness. He has been so overwhelmed by the forgiveness Jesus displayed in His earthly life that he has made Luke 23:34 his life verse: ‘Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing”. Andy’s passions in life include a strong love for the Lord God, an intense commitment to God’s family, and a desire to help foster a strong Family community at First Baptist.
